STONBURY SECURE SINGLE SUPPLIER REEDBED CONTRACT WITH ESSEX AND SUFFOLK WATER

Stonbury is thrilled to announce its recent success in securing the Hanningfield Reedbed Refurbishment contract.

Initially running over the next four years with an option to extend the contract until 2029, Stonbury will work closely with Essex and Suffolk Water (Northumbrian Water Group) to refurbish sixteen sludge treatment reedbed basins.

‘’Reedbeds play an important part in carbon reduction as well as offering a more natural treatment process, and as Stonbury is a proud supporter of these systems, we are really looking forward to working with NWG on this contract".

Jason Baldock, Regional Delivery Manager

Each basin is designed to filter out, dewater, accumulate and store the sludge residues to allow high-quality filtrate water to be discharged back into the reservoir. The scope of works will include a phased programme to remove and dispose the existing reedbed treatment process and the re-establishment of loading operations, which will be completed in a controlled manner to avoid damaging the process.

“Stonbury is delighted to have been awarded the Hanningfield Reed Bed contract. This provides us with a great opportunity to deliver another key service to NWG, as well as helping us achieve our important strategic goals”.

Iain Weir, Sales and Marketing Director

Works are due to start in Winter 2022 with the intention to restore two basins per year over the eight-year period. Stonbury look forward to working with NWG and being a part of the reedbed scheme which will help to reduce carbon and protect our environment.
